Lithgow Library kicks off new Nature Series‏

Augusta, Maine - Maine State Horticulturist Ann Gibbs will kick off a series of nature-related programs at Lithgow Public Library on Thursday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Reading Room.  The series, called “Fifty Shades of Good Green Living,” will be held in November and December and will feature a variety of speakers on different nature/outdoor topics. Gibbs will discuss identification and control of invasive plants, as well as the importance of preventive measures, early detection and rapid response.
      All of the Lithgow nature programs are free and open to the public, and will take place in the Reading Room.  
      Also featured in the “Fifty Shades of Good Green Living” series are:
Saturday, November 10 at 10 a.m. – Steve Pinkham, author of Old Tales of the Maine Woods will spin some traditional hunting and fishing tales, along with stories of lumberjacks, ghost stories, and encounters with Maine’s wild animals.
Friday, November 30 at Noon – Mark DesMeules, Director of Viles Arboretum, will give an overview of what the Arboretum has to offer.
Thursday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m. – Jeff and Allison Wells, authors of Maine’s Favorite Birds, will give a slide show and talk about birding in Maine.
