In HARVEY we meet Elwood P. Dowd (Stephen Wallace), an affable man who claims to have an unseen (and presumably imaginary) friend, Harvey — whom Elwood describes as a six-foot, one-and-one-half-inch tall rabbit with very human traits. Elwood introduces Harvey to everyone he meets. His social-climbing sister, Veta (Ann Foskett), increasingly finds his eccentric behavior embarrassing. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her and her daughter Myrtle Mae (Jennifer True) from future embarrassment.
When they arrive at the sanitarium, a comedy of errors ensues. The doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but when the truth comes out the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion. When Elwood shows up at the sanitarium looking for his lost friend Harvey, it seems that the mild-mannered Elwood's delusion has had a strange influence on the staff, including sanitarium director Dr. Chumley (Bill Vaughan), Nurse Kelly (Mallory Adams), his medical partner Dr. Sanderson (Todd Bolint), his wife Betty (Jane Gear) and the sanitarium strongman Wilson ( Charlie Arksey). In fact no one escapes the reach of Harvey – not Judge Gaffney (Kent Cooper), Mrs. Chauvenet (Sunny Kirkham) and not the accommodating cabbie (Michael Rowe). Certainly not wanting to spoil the mayhem and mirth that ensues...come to Lincoln Theater to visit with HARVEY to find out what happens.
HARVEY is being directed by Al D’Andrea to take advantage of the abundance of opportunities for laughter for the entire family. While the original production opened on Broadway almost 70 years ago on November 1, 1944 at the 48th Street Theatre, and ran for 1775 performances, the curtain goes up on LCCT’s HARVEY at Lincoln Theater for 6 performances only starting November 9 at 7:30 PM and playing Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 2 PM. The schedule repeats the weekend of November 16. Tickets are $12 for adults/$5 for children.
