Ellsworth, Maine - The Grand announces the lineup for its new monthly “Disney Classics” family film series beginning on Sunday, January 18th. Films screen at 1 pm and 4 pm. Ticket prices are general admission seating for each movie and are $1 per admission.

What’s better than getting out of the cold and into a warm theater and seeing the best live-action Disney has offered from the past decades? In 2015, The Grand offers everyone the opportunity to see these classic films the way they were meant to be seen – projected on a giant screen, larger than life – films that were made by the geniuses at Disney to be enjoyed by the whole family! The double-feature lineup of titles includes:

January 18th at 1 pm – The Parent Trap. We get a double dose of British actress Hayley Mills in the
original Disney classic: she plays 13-year-old identical twins Susan and Sharon, who conspire to reunite their parents – will it succeed? The Grand offers the original classic on the big screen for the first time in decades. With Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara.

January 18th at 4 pm – That Darn Cat. A Siamese cat belonging to sisters (Hayley Mills and Dorothy Provine) becomes involved both with robbers (Neville Brand and Frank Gorshin) and an allergic FBI agent (Dean Jones) in a series of slapstick misadventures. The Grand presents the original version in all of its zany glory on the big screen. With Grayson Hall, Roddy McDowall, William Demarest and Ed Wynn.

February 28th at 1 pm – The Absent-Minded Professor. One of Disney's most entertaining forays into live-action, this hit family comedy stars Fred MacMurray as a college professor so forgetful that he missed his own wedding twice. He creates an extremely resilient flying rubber, dubbed "Flubber," and manages to make his old Model-T bounce all the way to Washington, DC, where it is mistaken for a UFO, as well as helping the college basketball team win the big game with Flubber-powered sneakers. The Grand presents the original for families on the big screen! With Nancy Olson, Tommy Kirk, Keenan Wynn and Ed Wynn.

February 28th at 4 pm – Son of Flubber. Fred MacMurray returns as Professor Ned Brainerd in this zany sequel to The Absent-Minded Professor, currently working on his new discovery "dry rain." He has better luck with "Flubbergas," a byproduct of the antigravity glop he'd invented in the first film. With Nancy Olson, Tommy Kirk, Keenan Wynn and Ed Wynn.

March 21st at 1pm –  The Shaggy Dog. Young Wilby Daniels (Tommy Kirk) finds a magic ring that once belonged to the Borgia family. When he pronounces an inscription on the ring, he is suddenly able to transform himself into a shaggy dog – though he has no control over when this is going to happen. The Grand is excited to have the original on the big screen. With Annette Funicello, Fred MacMurray, Jean Hagen and Jack Albertson.

March 21st at 4pm – The Shaggy D.A.  Disney stalwart Dean Jones plays the adult Wilby Daniels in this sequel, a lawyer running against the villainous John Slade (Keenan Wynn) for district attorney. His campaign is cast into doubt when he comes upon an ancient ring that transforms him into a fat sheepdog. With Suzanne Pleshette, Tim Conway, Jo Ann Worley, and Dick Van Patten.

April 18th at 1 pm – 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Kirk Douglas plays a trouble-shooting 19th century seaman in this adaptation of the Jules Verne classic adventure, trying to discover why so many whaling ships have been disappearing of late. Teaming with a scientist (Paul Lukas) and a diver (Peter Lorre), Douglas sets sail to investigate- and is promptly captured by the megalomaniac Captain Nemo (James Mason), who skippers a lavish, scientifically advanced submarine.

April 18th at 4 pm – Swiss Family Robinson. This adaptation of Johan Wyss's book wastes no time getting down to business, with the shipwreck of the Robinson family occurring as the credits flash across the screen. Fashioning a raft, the family heads to a lush tropical island and have a series of adventures calculated to arouse the envy of every man, woman and child in the audience, including fighting off pirates! With John Mills, Dorothy McGuire, and James MacArthur.

So bring a friend, get out of the cold and share the experience of seeing Hollywood’s classic movies the way they were meant to be seen- on the big screen- at The Grand’s monthly “Disney Classics” family film series beginning in January, 2015.

The “Disney Classics” is part of the film program at The Grand which includes “Winter CineGrand 2015” series of weekly Tuesday night screenings of titles the awards shows are buzzing about this year beginning on February 1st at 7:30 pm with Gone Girl, a thriller based upon the global bestseller by Gillian Flynn and starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike.
