#Blizzard2015 #PortlandME Update

Citywide Parking Ban still in effect through Wednesday at 6AM
No solid waste collection Wednesday
City Offices & City Hall to Open at 10AM Wednesday
Portland, Maine - City of Portland officials continue to urge residents to stay off the streets through the duration of the blizzard conditions.Heavy snow and strong winds are creating dangerous travel conditions and extremely poor visibility, even for plow truck operators and emergency vehicles. People should remain at home and travel only if necessary. Conditions also make it hard to see pedestrians, so please use caution even when walking and remain at home if possible. According to the latest weather update from the National Weather Service, there is the potential for an additional seven inches of snow between now and midnight.

"We're glad that people are heeding our warnings and staying off the streets and at home," said Portland Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Jerry LaMoria. "This is making it much easier for the more than 40 plow crews currently handling operations."

SIDEWALK CLEARING REMINDER
The City of Portland plows an estimated 100 miles of sidewalks including Portland's Downtown District. City ordinances require that adjacent property owners clear snow and ice from sidewalks. While it might take more time to do so after this storm, residents and business owners are reminded to please do their part with clearing sidewalks.
