Thursday, January 22

 “Crime and Punishment in Soviet Agriculture: The Ordeal of Nikolai Vavilov” with nationally-known food writer Nancy Harmon Jenkins, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Part of the Camden Conference’s Community Events Series, open to all.


Saturday, January 24

Simply Books Club, 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Simply bring along whatever book you’re currently reading and share it with the group; all are welcome.


Tuesday, January 27

Hammon Buck presents “Favorite Plants of 1915” as part of the Camden Garden Club’s Winter Horticulture series, 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library. Free and open to all.

Leer y Charlar Spanish Book Club, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All who are proficient in Spanish are welcome.

“Making Books by Hand” with Amy Hand, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, part of the library’s “Jumpstart January.” $10 materials fee. Call the library at 236-3440 to sign up or with questions.


Thursday, January 29

The Camden Library Coffeehouse features Cindy Kallet and Grey Larsen, 7:00 pm. $8/$7 for seniors & students at the door.


Saturday, January 31

Camden Winterfest Community Ice Carving celebration in the Camden Amphitheatre, noon to 3:00 pm, featuring ice carving, live music indoors and out, hot food, kids crafts indoors noon to 2:00, and family winter fun. Part of Camden’s Winterfest Week! Come see what’s going on in the Amphitheatre and the CamJam in Harbor Park!


Monday, February 2

Alex the Jester will bring his dazzling show to the Camden Opera House at 6:00 pm as part of Winterfest Week, hosted by the Camden Public Library and the Winterfest Committee. Tickets are free for kids ages 0-3; $2 for kids 4-12; $5 ages 13 and up; with a family rate of $15. Tickets available at the Camden library, Clean Bee laundry, and the schools of the Independent School Association.


Tuesday February 3

Rosalee Glass presents “The Greening of the Village: How the Village Green Came to Be”as part of the Camden Garden Club’s Winter Horticulture series, 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library. Free and open to all.

Family movie at the Camden Public Library as part of Winterfest Week, sing-along with Anna and Olaf. Free. 6:00 pm. Call the library at 236-3440 for more information.


Wednesday, February 4

Midcoast Stroke Support Group meeting, 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome.

Family movie “Cool Runnings” at the Camden Opera House as part of Winterfest Week, $4 at the door.
