Foxcroft Academy to honor 1975 state champion basketball team on January 24

Dover-Foxcroft, Maine - As everyone left town on that magical night in February 1975, a homemade sign read, “Last one out of town, shut off the lights.”  On the heels of an emphatic 73-49 victory over Orono, which avenged a two-point loss to the Red Riots in the Eastern Maine championship a season before, the Ponies were not to be denied in their quest for Foxcroft Academy’s first gold ball.

Our Ponies came back in 1975 with their eyes on the title, and they delivered a 56-53 win over Medomak Valley that will live on as one of the greatest moments in Foxcroft Academy athletics history. In recognition of the 40th anniversary of the 1975 Class B state championship, the Ponies’ one and only basketball title, Foxcroft Academy will honor this legendary team during halftime of the boys’ basketball game against Hermon at 7 pm on Saturday, January 24.

Pony Nation, come on out and help us honor the heroics of this great team!
