Ellsworth, Maine - The Grand’s Performing Arts for Children (PAC) Education Program 2013-14 season

Schools and home-school families can register for “The Mask Messenger”- as well as all other PAC performances- by calling The Grand box office at 667-9500. Tickets are $3.00 per person and reservations are required.
Beverly Mann is an actor, mask theatre performer/educator and mask maker who lives in Belfast, Maine. She has taught numerous workshops and residencies in mask making, mask theatre techniques, and theatre improvisation throughout Maine, across the U.S. and abroad. And now she brings Faustwork Mask Theatre's solo show “The Mask Messenger” to The Grand. Recommended for Grades 2 and up, “The Mask Messenger” is a series of vignettes ranging from comic to bizarre to touching and includes expressive silent masks brought to life with outrageous physicality; comic characters who speak from behind half-masks; and exotic creatures created by masks worn other parts of the body. The set consists of an impressive collection of masks, created by Mr. Faust and the company, exhibited center stage. The success of “The Mask Messenger” is because it offers not only comic exuberance, but also new insights into the artistic, cultural, and historical aspects of the mask. The show has been performed over 2000 times at festivals, schools, universities, and in theatres throughout the United States and the world.
The Grand is proud to showcase this exciting performance as part of its 2013-14 Performing Arts for Children (PAC) Education Program season, a season that includes a live radio theater staging of Dickens’ “Christmas Carol” for the holidays.
