Jam Session Benefits Wendy Sparrell

Nov. 30 Jam Session Benefits Wendy Sparrell

The public is invited to enjoy food, fun and fellowship in support of Wendy Sparrell on Sat., Nov. 30 at Schooner Landing in Damariscotta. Sparrell, a South Bristol resident, was seriously injured in a fall several weeks ago. “She will be unable to work and could use our support to help her get through the winter,” said event co-organizer Lauri Campbell.

Wendy is well known to many residents as a popular waitress who was working at the Sea Gull Shop in Pemaquid before her accident. She has also worked at Salt Bay CafĂ©. To supplement her income, Wendy does house painting and a number of other tasks that she will be unable to perform for some time due to her injuries. “She’s a hard worker and a great friend, mother and grandmother,” Campbell said.

The Jam Session for Wendy begins at 3 p.m. on November 30 and continues until at least 8 p.m., according to event co-organizer Larry Sidelinger. There will be an eclectic collection of local performers including Paul Mellyn, Steve Jones, Olivia DeLisle with Caleb Jones, the Wicked Blues Band,  and Frank Bedell and the Torpedoes. More bands are expected to join the jam, according to Sidelinger.

Friends of Wendy will be providing a pot-luck with an emphasis on appetizers, and anyone who would like to bring a food item to add to the selection is welcome to do so, according to Campbell. There will also be a Silent Auction coordinated by Wendy’s daughter Hannah featuring a wide variety of items from local retailers and restaurants.

Donations to assist Wendy will be accepted at the door. For further information contact Lauri Campbell at 380-7858 or email campbell@midcoast.com.
