DECD Commissioner to Present Poland Business Friendly Signage, Monday, November 25

Augusta, Maine - As part of the LePage Administration's continuing commitment to ensuring Maine is open for business, the state's Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner, George Gervais, will present the Town of Poland with its "Certified Business-Friendly" Community certificate and road signs on Monday.

"Poland is one of many Maine communities where action speaks louder than words," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "I congratulate the town for its commitment to providing the best possible climate for new private investment and job creation."

The following are several highlights on what the Town of Poland has done to earn its "Certified Business-Friendly" designation:

• Significant infrastructure improvements • Strong collaboration with Oxford County Chamber of Commerce and the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce • Letter from Poland Spring regarding the Poland's quick and efficient assistance • Quick turn around on licenses and permits • The Poland Economic Development Committee represents a positive utilization of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to support businesses as well as long-term community growth

A total of 25 municipalities have so far been declared "Certified Business-Friendly" for their commitment to creating a better climate for new investment and private sector job growth.
