Simple Gifts Craft Night

Rockland, Maine - Does the thought of selecting holiday gifts for friends and family make your head spin? Why not make them a lovely handmade gift for their stockings or for under the tree? Come to the Rockland Public Library on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00 PM for a wonderful evening making several simple gifts. There will be five tables-- each with different crafts to create.

Mary Jane Martin will show people how to make gorgeous “junk drawer” jewelry from old jewelry and re-purposed household items.  With Janet Corcoran, crafters can make two different ornaments based on the Legend of the Christmas Pickle. The first ornament involves basic sewing skills; the second is a fun, edible version, for children of all ages to gobble up on Christmas morning.   Naomi Howe will teach participants how to make a 3-D paper bird which can be used either as an ornament or card.  Patty King will help you make three different kinds of bookmarks for the booklovers in your life—made from items such as envelopes, buttons & paint sample strips.  Peter Proeller will advise you how to make a soon-to-be-revealed delight!  Just bring your fingers and a willingness to learn; the event is free and supplies will be provided. This program is for adults and teenagers. Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. For more information, call 594-0310.
