Travel Safely: Wintry Mix Expected into Wednesday Morning:

As Mainers prepare to go "over the river and through the woods" to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, a wintry mix will create hazardous driving conditions Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service is forecasting messy road conditions for Wednesday morning, especially in the Western mountains of Maine. MEMA joins the NWS in advising travelers to be prepared for slippery roads this holiday weekend (and to avoid them if possible).

NWS-Gray has issued a Winter Weather Advisory into mid-morning on Wednesday. NWS-Gray is advising to *hold off travel until the snow, sleet and freezing rain has turned over to all rain*.

Rain may be heavy at times, which can lead to street flooding and ponding on low-lying roads. Remember, "[Turn Around, Don't Drown](http://www.maine.gov/mema/prepare/prep_display.shtml?163453)" -- find another way around a flooded road.

In addition, high winds are expected Wednesday afternoon and evening, which could lead to some power outages.

##Safety Begins at Home

Most important, once you get to grandmother's house, or grandmother arrives at yours, have a wonderful holiday.
