Portland, Maine - The City of Portland’s Sanitation crews WILL NOT collect trash and recycling on Thursday November 28 or Friday November 29, 2013 to observe the Thanksgiving holiday. Please do not place your recycling or trash curbside until your next collection day (Thursday, December 4 or Friday, December 5, 2013).
As a reminder, in 2013, crews will collect trash and recycling on most federal holidays. There will be three (3) exceptions in the collection schedule:

1) Residents who have collection scheduled on the Thanksgiving holiday (Thursday and Friday), will have NO collection that week (11/28/2013 & 11/29/2013).
2) Those who have collection regularly scheduled on Christmas Day (Wednesday, 12/25/2013), will have their trash & recycling collected on December 21, 2013, the Saturday before Christmas.
3) Those who have collection regularly scheduled on New Year's Day (Wednesday, 1/1/14), will have their trash & recycling collected on December 28, 2013, the Saturday before New Year's Day.
During the rest of the holidays, Public Services Solid Waste crews will be working to collect your trash and recycling as regularly scheduled

Island Residents collection schedule has NOT CHANGED. Residents of Peaks Island, Great Diamond Island, Little Diamond Island and Cliff Island will have their recycling and trash collection on Monday each week, unless the holiday falls on a Monday, then collection will take place on the Tuesday following the holiday.

The Riverside Recycling Facility will be closed on Thursday and Friday as well. They will resume normal business hours on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
