UMA Music Program Presents Free Fall Concert Series Dec. 5th, 6th and 7th

Augusta, Maine - Instrumental and Vocal Ensembles of the Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at the University of Maine at Augusta will present, UMA Concerts Fall 2013 on December 5th, 6th and 7th at 7:00 PM each evening in Jewett Hall Auditorium.

UMA Concerts, an annual concert series hosted by UMA’s Music Program, represents current changes in musical diversity and technological advancement.  Admission is free, no tickets or reservations are required.

UMA Concerts Fall 2013 Schedule:

Thursday:  

Tim Johnson's "Modular Band" and the UMA Tour Band, led by drummer Steve Grover.  The Tour Band travels throughout the State, providing concerts in High Schools and other public venues.

Friday:

The Sonic Explorations Ensemble, led by guitarist Professor Richard Nelson.  The group’s repertoire encompasses classic jazz compositions by John Coltrane, a fresh take on The Beatles, a musical expedition into black holes and event horizons, and foundational jazz-fusion from the early days of Weather Report.
UMA Progressive Rock Ensemble led by guitarist Scott Hughes, featuring innovative music in the jazz-rock fusion and funk areas.

Saturday:

Envok Ensemble led by Marcia Gallagher, known statewide as a vocal performer and group leader in the Contemporary Music field.
Flutist Bill Moseley's Puma Ensemble, offering modern jazz for vocalist, wind instruments and rhythm section.


The UMA Music Program has served Maine since 1973, providing the State's only degrees in jazz, rock and contemporary styles, including education in virtually all American music styles.  The program offers both Bachelor and Associate degrees with concentrations in Music Education, Performance, Sonic Arts & Composition and Audio Technology.
