Trekkers ‘Pedal to the Port’ Bicycle Ride

Trekkers ‘Pedal to the Port’ Bicycle Ride on June 9th

Thomaston, Me.-Trekkers’ fourth annual Pedal to the Port bicycle ride will be held Saturday, June 9th. With three routes to choose from, this yearly fundraising event offers options for bicyclists of all levels. The family-friendly 12-mile route includes views of the St. George River and is geared for casual bikers. The 35-mile route includes a scenic stop at the historic Marshall Point Lighthouse in the village of Port Clyde. The 45 mile route also includes ocean views from the ‘Keag and Ash Point Drive, and is an ideal training ride for the Trek Across Maine.

All three routes begin and end at the Oceanside West (formerly Georges Valley) High School in Thomaston. Riders will receive a free Pedal to the Port T-shirt and a complimentary post-ride cookout luncheon. The registration fee is $25 per individual rider (or $20 per member of a team of four or more), plus a minimum of $75 in pledges. Riders can register online at www.pedaltotheport.com, or by contacting the Trekkers office to request a mailed registration form. Participants can also register at Oceanside West High School on the morning of the ride, beginning at 7:45 a.m. The ride begins at 9:00 a.m.

Pedal to the Port provides crucial financial support for Trekkers’ programming. Trekkers is a nonprofit, outdoor-based mentoring organization that connects young people with caring adults through expeditionary learning, community service and adventure-based education. The organization serves more than 160 local youth each year and involves more than 100 adult volunteers from the communities of St. George, Thomaston, Cushing, Rockland, South Thomaston and Owls Head.
