BOSTON, MA - Our newest Musician Spotlight is on a Boston-based band popALERT. This is an up and coming band from the Boston, MA area. PopAlert band members are Cameron Roux, 11; Claire Vanderpot, 13; Colin Jamieson, 13, Jesse Mattison, 16; Alex Markoski, 16; Rachel Neves, 14.
PopALERT is a new six member Boston based teen pop/rock group comprised of two girls and four boys. The band was formed from an open audition process which attracted the best of the best teen performers from the greater New England area. The objective was to form a band which had male and female vocal depth, strong and well balanced musicality, and be in a standalone class for its extreme talent. It is all too common to see young bands showing recognized dominance by specific band members while others show their inexperience and struggle to blend in. Day 1 the band sounded like they had been together for a long time and were ready for live performances. Under the guidance of their Managers, Paul Gargan of Smash Pop Records, and Patty Duffey, owner of The Young Performers Club and Music On & Up, they will be positioned to rise up the charts as a top co-ed teen pop/rock group. The music will be upbeat teen rock/pop songs with a bit of country flair. With Paul’s 25 year history in the music industry in management, production and development, and Patty’s history in working with young talent through her marketing management business and popular young performer showcase series, they form a powerful artist management/development team. Paul manages the all girl band, Girl’s Nite Out, and the new all boy group Kik-It, and Patty has a long resume of management success in the young performer market. As the Managers say, this is raw talent all together!
The band will use local writers, performance consultants, and top industry writers from North America and as far away as London, Germany and Sweden, to develop the band’s first original songs.
PopALERT was formed in October of 2011 through an open audition process. Six members were selected and the objective was to form a band which had vocal depth and extreme talent in all the right spots. The band has five vocalists so we are able to perform a wide range of songs. The managers goal is to focus on recording six new originals and have them start performing regionally and nationally with a strong focus on quality opener opportunities and Disney Radio performances.
Watch out because here they come! Be on the alert for popALERT!
Here are what the members of popALERT had to say about the band.
Claire Vanderpot:
My name is Claire and I'm 13 years old. I have been playing guitar since I was 7. Music has always been important to me. I can't imagine my life without music. My parents tell me I learned to sing before I learned to walk. I have recently picked up playing the bass for the band and really love it.
Cameron Roux:
Cam says he hopes to play music that people will like. He takes music very seriously and practices every day for hours, starting most mornings well before he leaves for school.
Colin Jaimeson:
"For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a singer. Being in popAlert has changed my perspective on the world, on my life and mostly singing. Singing is a huge deal to me and I thank God for the gift he has given to me and for how lucky I am to be working with Patty, Paul and Marc."
Alex Markoski:
Writing, recording, and performing music fulfills so many of my emotions. It is an energy release, mood changer, and creative outlet. I really enjoy writing songs and the interaction of learning and mastering a song with band members then performing the songs in front of audiences. It is a blast! I'd love to continue to develop my music knowledge, range, and skills continually performing at bigger and better venues. I'd love to write some songs that become big hits. I can't wait to see where this takes me.
Jesse Mattison:
I think that popALERT is a great band with a tremendous amount of talent. Everyone in the band can pick up new songs very quickly and I enjoy working with all of them. Our music is catchy and fun and I want us all to be proud of it and where it could take us.
Let's start by giving Recognition to the best managers ever! Thanks Patty and Paul, for your Inspiration, dedication and hard work! (Great Job putting this band together!)
