Richmond makes it six straight, 5-1 over Portland

Richmond, Va. - Ricky Oropesa drove in 4 runs and Joe Biagini (5-3) tossed seven strong innings, leading the Richmond Flying Squirrels (30-26) to a 5-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (23-36) on Wednesday night at the Diamond.

Biagini has beaten the Sea Dogs in back-to-back appearances, earning his third straight win. The righty tossed seven innings on six hits, one run, no walks and five strikeouts.

Oropesa delivered a pair of base-loaded two-run singles off losing pitcher Luis Diaz (0-5). Oropesa's hits came in the first and the fifth. Diaz gave up four runs on six hits, three walks and two strikeouts.

Portland's lone run came in the sixth inning. Jantzen Witte led off with a double and scored on a ground out by Oscar Tejeda. Richmond's fifth run came in the seventh inning on Mac Williamson's RBI single.

John Cornely pitched a perfect eighth with a strikeout in his Sea Dogs debut. Richmond's Jose Casilla and Tyler Mizenko each pitched a perfect inning of relief.

The Sea Dogs and Richmond Flying Squirrels meet for the final time in the regular season on Thursday night at 6:35 PM. Mike Augliera (2-9, 4.63) makes the start for Portland while Adalbert Mejia makes his second start of the season for Richmond.
