BANGOR, Maine – Voting for the 13th annual Bangor Savings Bank Foundation Community Matters More grant program will begin Feb. 1.

Since 2007, the Community Matters More
program has awarded nearly $1.3 million in grants to more than 530 different nonprofit organizations in Maine and New Hampshire.

This year’s program will provide more than $140,000 to 55 nonprofit organizations chosen by a public voting process open throughout the month of February. All voting takes place online at www.Bangor.com/cmm

The top two vote-getters in 11 regions in Maine and New Hampshire will receive a $5,000 grant. Thirty-three other organizations listed on the voting ballot, including 11 write-ins receiving the most votes in each region, will receive a $1,000 grant.

“Each year, we love watching people and communities rally for their favorite, local nonprofits,” said Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO, Bob Montgomery-Rice. “There are hundreds of nonprofits doing great and important work for communities across Maine and New Hampshire. We’re are humbled by the tens of thousands of voters who take the time to tell us how best to support our communities through these Community Matters More grants.”

In addition to its financial support, Community Matters More generates substantial exposure for the work of 44 nonprofits included on the voting ballot. The program receives generous support from News Center Maine, WGAN 560 Newsradio, Blueberry Broadcasting, and iHeart Radio Group in Portsmouth, Dover and Rochester, New Hampshire.
