The Gothard Sisters bring Folk Roots Music, Fiddle Tunes and Irish Dance to Strand

Rockland, Maine - The Gothard Sisters will bring their dynamic Irish music and dance group to the Strand Theatre, 345 Main Street, on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:30 pm.

From the Pacific Northwest, the three sisters perform and record new Celtic arrangements of well-known traditional tunes and songs, as well as their own original compositions from their 6 recorded studio albums. As champion Irish dancers who have competed overseas multiple times at the World Championships, they include the visual elements and the exciting rhythms of Irish step dancing into their tightly choreographed, high-energy variety shows.

The signature sound of The Gothard Sisters’ recording blends the freedom and lyricism of traditional folk forms with the discipline gained from years of training as classical musicians and the competitive world of Irish dance. Their latest album Story Girl was awarded Album of the Year 2011 by Celtic Radio.

The sisters have taken their joyful, exuberant show around the country to Celtic and folk music festivals, state and county fairs, halftime shows, schools, theaters and concert series of all sizes. The performance is presented in cooperation with New England Celtic Arts.

Tickets: $18/General Admission. The Strand lobby and balcony bars are open for all concerts for 21+.
