Portland, Maine - Erica Bartlett will speak about her book, "Winning the Losing Battle: A True Story of Weight Loss and Transformation" at the Friday Local Author Series on Friday, July 10th at noon in Meeting Room #5 at the Portland Public Library.

As an overweight teen and young adult, Erica desperately wanted a different body. She felt constantly judged for her size and what she ate, she hated trying to buy clothes, and she longed to be able to climb Mt. Katahdin with her family.

She believed that Being Thin would make everything better, but diets never seemed to work for her. As the pounds packed on, she despaired of ever achieving her goals.

Then tragedy struck. Motivated by grief, she ditched dieting and finally began down the path to a new life. But it was not a smooth ride.

In this achingly honest memoir, Winning the Losing Battle brings readers along Erica's journey, sharing excerpts from her journal from over 20 years. The story starts with her weight and food struggles and carries through the changes that led her to a life far richer and greater than she ever expected.
