Portland Public Library – Lewis Gallery

Portland, Maine - Portland Public Library will host a traveling exhibition of indigenous art from South America in July. The exhibit includes artwork from indigenous artists working in Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panamá and Peru, showcasing traditional and contemporary art. Paintings by indigenous artists will be on display as well as sculptures. Working with indigenous artists from all over South America, The Indigenous School of the Arts Foundation - in Quito, Ecuador - has put together this exhibit to celebrate the vast traditions of these millennial cultures.
The exhibit will be on display in the Portland Public Library’s Lewis gallery from July 3rd through July 31st with an opening reception held during the First Friday Art Walk from 5:00-8:00pm on July 3rd. Some of the artists have traveled with the exhibit
