Opening reception for artist Kendra Denny, 6:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Denny creates textured and colorful local scenes with encaustics; her exhibit, “Coastal Landscapes: Encaustics by E. Kendra Denny,” will be on display at the library throughout the month of July.

Mental Health First Aid Training at the Camden Public Library, offered by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Maine. 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, for more information and to register call Christopher at 622-5767 or visit namimaine.org/events. This training opportunity is being funded by a grant, a $5.00 registration fee is required, and lunch will be provided for free. Members of the public who enroll in local MHFA trainings learn a five-step action plan to help loved ones, colleagues, neighbors, and others cope with mental health problems.
Nicholas Wolf, editor, will present “Americans in Their Own Words” at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm. The book features several of our Maine neighbors.

Wellness Presentation by Robert Sewall, “The Many Benefits of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar,” 12:00 noon at the Camden Public Library. Sewall will discuss apple cider vinegar’s uses in folk medicine, how vinegar is made, and about ancient uses and exciting new research on vinegar’s role in whole-body health. The Camden Philosophical Society hosts a discussion on “Heidegger and the Pope on Technology and the Environment” at the regular Reading Group session, 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All who enjoy a good discussion are welcome.
The Juke Rockets will bring their high-energy blues to the Camden Amphitheatre on Tuesday evening, July 14, at 7:00 pm. Bring blankets or chairs for comfortable seating, and shoes for dancing! The concert is free, although we will pass the hat. The Juke Rockets band is made up of powerhouse lead vocalist Carlene Thornton, rhythm section Steve Mellor on bass and Tim Woitowitz on drums, and bluesman extraordinaire Ron Casillo playing the tastiest guitar licks north of the chitlin circuit.

Author Jim Krosschell will present “Owls Head Revisited” at the Camden Public Library at 7:00 pm. The book will be published in early July by North Country Press. Krosschell has been coming to Maine for 30 years and is author of the blog, “One Man’s Maine.”
