Senior College Writers’ Group to Give Reading December 2

The Writers’ Group of the Coastal Senior College meets regularly at the Camden Public Library to discuss and polish their work. The group will give a reading of their latest creations on Monday afternoon, December 2, at 1:00 pm, at the library. The public is invited to come enjoy the reading!

Brief bios:

Carol Luchetti is a clinical social worker who has worked at various state institutions, including Maine State Prison and the former BMHI.  She now concentrates on short-story writing.

Ken Payment is a retired attorney, having practiced in the field of business litigation for forty-four years. In retirement he has been writing short, humorous stories, some from his practice, some from living, and some just for fun. Ken lived in Rochester, New York until this year and now lives in Tenants Harbor with his wife Jane.

Peter Muth, originally from Hamburg, Germany, credits the group with helping him make the transition from writing boring reports to writing fiction and his memoir.

Barbara Furey started writing poetry at ten and continued through college. Six years ago she took it up again after taking a course at the Senior College.  Her work focuses on the outdoors and people she has known and loved.

Pamela Hall Evans, historian and novelist, is at work on a biographical novel about Dorothy Brett, English/American painter of American Southwest Indians.  Pamela lives in Rockland but maintains ties to the Southwest through friends, colleagues, and family.

Kevin Lee has written two books, including one about crossing the USA by bike in 2010. He is working on two more, one about crossing China in 2012 and one about being in America when his father died. He goes back to biking the third of four legs to cross the world in 2014. He takes a one-second video every day.

Marilyn Hotch is a retired attorney and mediator who has been writing in one form or another all her life. Interested in poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction, she recently won the 2013 Maine Postmark Poetry Contest sponsored by the Belfast Poetry Festival.

Ken Keoughan: After Cornell University Ken devoted thirty-one years to marketing/advertising entrepreneurism. In so-called retirement he built and ran a successful wood-turning school in Damariscotta. Through writing he now shares the fruits of his experiences with others.

Marilyn Muth studied art in Philadelphia and afterwards lived in various places around the world. Her experiences gave birth to a love of short-story writing and she finds the group’s support very valuable.

Norbert Nathanson is a retired educator and bureaucrat whose writing includes short stories and social commentary as well his recently published memoir, A Secretly Handicapped Man. Nathanson will be giving a reading of the book at the Camden library on the evening of December 12 at 7:00 pm.
