Abrupt Climate Change and Extreme Weather Discussion offered at Hutchinson Center

Belfast, Maine - On July 22th at 6:30, the University of Maine Hutchinson Center will be hosting a lecture:
Abrupt Climate Change and Extreme Weather:~Why Perfect Storms Are Becoming More Common,
as part of the UMaine Mondays in July summer series; a scholarship fundraising event.

Alder Stone Fuller and Edward Hummel will lead the discussion on climate change.  Alder Stone Fuller has earned a Ph.D in Ecology/Evolution and is a consultant/freelance teacher of Earth system sciences.  Edward Hummel has earned a BS in chemistry and a MS in meteorology.  Ed is a retired meteorologist and teacher and is the co-founder of Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT). He currently owns a small forecasting service.

The discussion on climate change is a lead into the film The Perfect Storm (2000) in which an unusually intense storm pattern catches some commercial fishermen unaware and puts them in mortal danger. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177971/)  The Perfect Storm will be shown at the Hutchinson Center on July 31st at 6:30 pm.

All UMaine Monday events will take place at the University of Maine Hutchinson CenterĂ­s 110 Seat air- conditioned auditorium, located at 80 Belmont Avenue, Belfast. ~All events are free to the community; however, donations to the Hutchinson Center Scholarship fund will gladly be accepted.
