First Lady to Attend Oxford County Veterans Recognition Ceremony
Greenwood, Maine - On Sunday, First Lady Ann LePage will be the guest speaker at the Oxford County Veterans Recognition Ceremony. The event will be hosted at the Silver American Legion Post #68. Veterans will be recognized for their service in all wars. In addition, the ceremony will recognize 154 casualties of four wars: WWI, WWII, Korean and Vietnam.
“It is very important that we recognize and thank our veterans for their courageous service to our great State and Nation,” said First Lady LePage. “It is equally important that we pay tribute to those heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of all of us, here at home,” continued the First Lady.
During the last three years, the River Valley towns have held several veteran recognition events with support from the Maine Veteran Services Organization. There have been over 8,000 veterans identified from several Oxford County towns. This ceremony will recognize and provide service awards for each veteran who registers for the event.
