Camden Public Library Events June 25 through July 9

Friday, June 26

Free Walking Tours resume for the summer, every Friday at 4:00 pm, starting at the Camden Public Library. The Library and the Camden Downtown Business Group host the free walking tours. Reservations are encouraged; please call the library at 236-3440 or stop by the Circulation Desk.


Tuesday, June 30

Author and artist David Estey of Belfast presents his humorous memoir, “Whoop and Drive ’er! Growing Up in Aroostook County, Maine,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome.


Thursday, July 2

Opening reception for artist Kendra Denny, 6:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Denny creates textured and colorful local scenes with encaustics; her exhibit, “Coastal Landscapes: Encaustics by E. Kendra Denny,” will be on display at the library throughout the month of July.


Monday, July 6

Monday Night Movies in the Park features the 1993 classic, “Jurassic Park,” in the Camden Amphitheatre, 8:30 pm, free, bring blankets or chairs for comfortable seating. 127 min, PG-13. Sponsored by the Camden Public Library and Allen Insurance & Financial.


Tuesday, July 7

Mental Health First Aid Training at the Camden Public Library, offered by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Maine. 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, for more information and to register call Christopher at 622-5767 or visit namimaine.org/events. This training opportunity is being funded by a grant, a $5.00 registration fee is required, and lunch will be provided for free. Members of the public who enroll in local MHFA trainings learn a five-step action plan to help loved ones, colleagues, neighbors, and others cope with mental health problems.
               
Nicholas Wolf, editor, will present “Americans in Their Own Words” at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm. The book features several of our neighbors in Camden and Rockport.


Wednesday, July 8

Wednesday in the Park concert features guitarist Martin Gibson, 12:00 noon in the Camden Amphitheatre, hosted by Camden Parks & Recreation Department. Free; the rain location is the Picker Room in the Camden Public Library.


Thursday, July 9

The Midcoast Brass Quintet returns to the Camden Amphitheatre for an evening concert, 7:00 pm, hosted by the Camden Public Library and sponsored by Allen Insurance & Financial. Free; bring blankets or chairs for comfortable seating; the rain location is the Picker Room in the library.
