ALIVE INSIDE screenings explore connections between music and memory

ROCKLAND, Maine -  “ALIVE INSIDE: A Story of Music and Memory” will screen at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main Street, on Sunday, January 11 at 2 pm (doors at 1pm) and Tuesday, January 13 at 1pm (doors at 12:30pm). The special shows are co-presented by Bartlett Woods, an independent and assisted-living community located in Rockland.

ALIVE INSIDE is a joyous cinematic exploration of music’s capacity to reawaken our souls and uncover the deepest parts of our humanity. The film chronicles the astonishing experiences of individuals who have been revitalized through the simple experience of listening to music, revealing the uniquely human connection we find in music and how its healing power can triumph where prescription medication falls short. The documentary follows social worker Dan Cohen, founder of the nonprofit organization Music & Memory, as he fights against a broken healthcare system to demonstrate music’s ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it. The film won the Audience Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

Tickets: $7.50/General Admission, on sale day of show, when doors open. For more information about all upcoming live concerts, films, HD broadcasts, and events at the Strand, visit www.rocklandstrand.com. Tel: (207) 594-0070 EX 3  Email: info@rocklandstrand.com
