LA's Parade of Lights on Tap for December 4th‏

Lewiston/Auburn, Maine - The Twin Cities of Lewiston & Auburn will once again be the site of the annual Parade of Lights on December 4th.  This year, the parade will kick off on Ash Street in Lewiston at 6 p.m., stop at Lewiston’s Kennedy Park for that city’s tree lighting, with hot chocolate to be provided by the Salvation Army Canteen.  The Parade will then continue to Festival Plaza in Auburn for a myriad of activities.  The event is annually facilitated by the Lewiston Downtown Holiday Celebration Committee and the Auburn Business Association, and the Parade of Lights alternates its kick-off site between Lewiston and Auburn each year.

Music will be provided by Dionne Entertainment, and float judging will occur for Best Business Float, Best Youth Float, and Best Non-Profit Float with donated prizes from Sam’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Pat’s Pizza.  Various December holidays will be highlighted at the Plaza, and Santa & Mrs. Claus will be visiting with children with free photos provided by Photo Finish.  Children’s dental bags will be handed out compliments of event sponsor Center Street Dental.  Auburn’s Christmas tree and a Menorah will be lit, with Santa doing a light countdown and Rabbi Hillel Katzir sharing the meaning of the Menorah.  Free coffee, hot chocolate, and munchkins will be provided by Dunkin Donuts, as well as free eggnog by Oakhurst Dairy.  The following costumed characters will also be on hand to mingle with attending children:  Portland Pirates’ Salty Pete, Oakhurst Dairy’s Oakie the Acorn, Dunkin Donuts Cuppy, Community Credit Union’s Monty Moose, and Rudolph.

Pre-parade festivities in Auburn will include:  free wagon rides by Stillbrook Acres, which will originate on Main Street, Auburn, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.  In addition, from 4 – 4:30 p.m., there will be a free storytime at Auburn City Hall, 60 Court Street, Room #206 sponsored by the Auburn Public Library.  The Library is also sponsoring free arts & crafts at Auburn City Hall, same room, from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
