Five Town CTC awards‏

Five Town Communities That Care is pleased to announce the most recent winners of its Youth Advocate Awards. At the November 14th Five Town CTC Coalition Meeting, Marcia Dietrich received the individual award and Five Town Football received the organization award.


A longtime member of the Five Town CSD and SAD #28 school boards, Marcia has steadfastly promoted the best interests of local students. “Educating our children is the most important work we undertake as communities,” she says. “Our local schools, with their reputation for excellence, are truly cornerstones for the quality of life our area offers. Integral to school leadership and local control, our towns have enjoyed a long tradition of highly capable, student-centered boards. The contributions made by these boards often garner little notice. I thank you sincerely for this award, which I believe recognizes the work done by many who serve or have served on our local school boards.”

“Cindy and I are honored to accept the Five Town CTC Youth Advocate Award on behalf of Five Town Football. We are thrilled to know that what we do is viewed beyond the game of football and sports in general.  Those of us who volunteer as coaches, board members, and other vast duties within our organization are truly rewarded by the interaction with our players, parents, and other youth football organizations. The increased confidence we see in these kids, their camaraderie with one another at all age levels, and respectful relationships with coaches is the foundation of our existence. We cannot do what we do without the community’s ongoing support. We are ever so grateful.”


The Five Town CTC Coalition honors Youth Advocates quarterly. Selection of nominees is to be based on one or more of the following criteria:


1) Involved in reducing problem adolescent behaviors (such as substance abuse, suicide, violence, delinquency, school drop-out, and teen pregnancy) among our local youth. 2) Involved in reducing Five Town CTC priority risk factors in the local community. 3) Involved in promoting Five Town CTC priority protective factors in the local community. 4) Fostering increased collaboration and cooperation amongst youth-serving agencies, groups, and businesses in the local community. 5) Fostering improved communication between local youth and their community. 6) Providing opportunities for area youth to learn new skills that they can use in service to their community.
