Camden, Maine - Coastal Mountains Land Trust and Georges River Land Trust will co-host an exploration of Bald Mountain on Saturday, October 13 from 10 am – 1 pm. The hike will be led by Ellen Skoczenski, Membership Coordinator for Coastal Mountains, and Stewardship Project Manager Jay Astle of Georges River.
This event is free and open to the public, but group size is limited to 15. Please call 236-7091 to register with Coastal Mountains Land Trust. Participants are asked to meet at the Camden Snow Bowl; the group will carpool to the smaller lot at the Bald Mountain trailhead. Participants should be prepared for a rigorous hike on steep terrain; the hike will commence in the case of light rain. Please bring sturdy hiking boots, water, and a snack or picnic for the summit.
This event celebrates the land trusts’ conservation efforts on Bald Mountain and Ellen and Jay will provide an update on current initiatives during the hike through the protected sections of the mountain.
Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of western Penobscot Bay. Georges River Land Trust works to conserve and steward the natural resources and traditional character of the Georges River watershed region for the public benefit.
