Back Pack Drive for Fallen Military to Begin in Southern Maine

Soldier's Angels, a volunteer non profit, will soon begin a donation drive to acquire new and lightly used backpacks.  The charity will then have volunteers fill them with personal hygiene items and a complete set of clothing for wounded or ill Troops.   This drive will take place through-out southern and central Maine.  Individual donations will be picked up and donation boxes will be placed at local summer camps, businesses, and community meeting places from June 30, 2012 until August 30, 2012.   If you or your business would like to "host" a donation box, please contact Ellen Forbes at simplyfabulouspetcare@yahoo.com.

The knowledge that caring Americans "back home" cared enough to create this special backpack is an immense comfort to the sick, injured and wounded.
The backpacks are
distributed in-country to Combat Support Hospitals and other major facilities that treat or transport the wounded, as well as smaller facilities where a mildly ill/injured soldier might stay for a short while before returning to his or her unit. At each of these locations, the backpacks enable medical personnel to quickly grab an all-in-one pack that meets the basic hygiene needs of patients so that the staff can focus on medical concerns.
Soldier's Angels is a 501 © (3) organization that was founded by the mother of two Soldiers and has helped thousands of Troops since 2003. They provide help in many unique ways such as letter writing, First Response Backpacks, handmade “Blankets of Hope,” making and sending care packages and home-made goods, sponsoring troops and helping them with their needs as well as their families needs
