Portland homers three times in a 6-3 loss at Bowie

David Chester,  Dave Sappelt and Oscar Tejeda hit solo homers
Bowie, Maryland - Despite hitting three solo homers, the Portland Sea Dogs (25-38) lost the series finale to the Bowie Baysox (34-28), 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium. Portland dropped two of three in the series and four of six on the roadtrip.

Portland led 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but Bowie scored twice to take the lead for good. Justin Haley (ND) was lifted after a lead-off walk to Brandon Snyder. Trey Mancini hit the first pitch from Simon Mercedes (1-2) over the left-field wall, his second homer of the season, both against Portland.

In the eighth, the Baysox added insurance off John Cornely. Snyder delivered and RBI double and Mancini had a sac-fly.

Terry Doyle (6-1) beat Portland for the second Sunday in a row. Doyle worked six innings on five
hits, three runs and three-solo homers. Ashur Tolliver fanned four over 2 IP for a hold and Andrew Triggs struck out the side in the ninth for his second save of the season.

The power of Dave Sappelt was on display for the second straight game. Sappelt hit the game-winner on Saturday night, and blasted a one-out homer in the second, giving Portland a 1-0 lead. The 'Dogs second hit left the park, as Oscar Tejeda blasted a homer off Doyle with two outs in the fourth.

Bowie tied the game at two in the fourth inning, receiving some power of their own. Ozzie Martinez led off with a double and Rossmel Perez smoked a two-run homer to right field.

Portland hit their third homer off Doyle int he fifth. With one out, David Chester launched his 4th home run of the season, putting Portland in front 3-2.

The Sea Dogs are off on Monday, and open up a three-game series with the Binghamton Mets on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. First pitch is 7:00 PM. Mike Augliera (2-9, 4.76) makes his 13th start of the season for Portland. Binghamton counters with righty Rainy Lara (4-2, 3.57). Tuesday is Goodwill Donation Drive Night at Hadlock.
