Augliera Works Seven Scoreless, 'Dogs Win Series Finale 8-2

Carlos Asuaje Homers Twice for Portland in the Victory
Portland, Maine - Mike Augliera worked seven scoreless innings, Carlos Asuaje hit two home runs, and the Portland Sea Dogs (19-26) defeated the Reading Fightin Phils (23-20) on a Memorial Day Monday afternoon at Hadlock Field, 8-2.

The Sea Dogs took the fifth and final game of the series with Reading thanks to a terrific start by Mike Augliera (2-7), who picked up the win.  Augliera worked seven shutout innings and allowed just four hits while walking one and striking out three.  He threw just 70 pitches (49 strikes).  The seven innings mark the longest outing by a Sea Dogs starting pitcher this season.

Aaron Nola (L, 6-2) had won his previous five starts coming into the game, but struggled against Portland for the second time this season.  Nola worked five innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out four.

Carlos Asuaje (2-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI) went yard twice for the Dogs and now has three home runs this season - all of them coming in the series with Reading.  David Chester (1-3, HR, 2 RBI) added his third homer of the season off of Lee Ridenhour in the 7th inning.  It marks the first time this season the Sea Dogs have hit multiple home runs in a game, and Asuaje's multi-homer performance is the first for Portland since Matt Spring hit two home runs at Reading on June 29th, 2014.

The Sea Dogs embark on a six-game road trip tomorrow evening in Binghamton, first pitch comes at 6:35 PM.  Pregame coverage begins live on the U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network at 6:05 PM.  Joe Gunkel (1-0, 4.32) will start game one for Portland against Gabriel Ynoa (2-2, 4.35) of the Mets.  The Sea Dogs next homestand begins June 2nd - tickets are still available for all Sea Dogs remaining home games as well as the Sullivan Tire Eastern League All-Star Classic on July 15th.  Call the ticket office at 207-879-9500 or buy tickets online at seadogs.com.
