Portland has won 5 straight road games
Binghamton, New York - The Portland Sea Dogs (21-26) made it five straight road wins, defeating the Binghamton Mets (24-22) 3-2 on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Portland seeks their first series sweep of the season on Thursday morning.

Jorge Marban worked around a lead-off double in the ninth inning, fanning Jared King to end the game. Binghamton had two runners on base in the final inning, but Marban notched his second save of the season.

William Cuevas (6-2) was outstanding for Portland, becoming the third 6-game winner in the Eastern League. Cuevas allowed one run on one hit, 4 walks and fanned 3. The young righty retired the final 10 batters faced.

Dillon Gee took the loss in a Major League Rehab Assignment for Portland. Gee worked 6.1 innings
on 5 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

The Sea Dogs have won 5 straight on the road and nine of their last 13 since they were 12-22.

Binghamton took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Eudy Perez. The inning could have been a lot worse for Cuevas, who issued 3 walks and a hit batter.  The Sea Dogs would respond, tying the game against Gee. Marco Hernandez (2-for-5) nailed a run-scoring single to left-center field, scoring Jonathan Roof.

Portland used some two-out magic to take a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Luis Martinez (2-for-4) doubled down the right-field line. Aneury Tavarez (2-for-4) followed with a ground-rule double, picking up his first Double-A RBI.

In the seventh, Portland grabbed a 3-1 lead on a two-out RBI single from Jantzen Witte. Witte leads the team in RBI with 34 and two-out RBI with 16. The Mets responded with a run off Madison Younginer. Gilbert Gomez delivered a run-scoring single to left.

Portland won their first game one-run game on the road, and seek their first 3-game series sweep since last season.
