Rockland Public Library: Summer Reading Program 2015 "Every Hero has a Story"‏

June 20th to August 15th
Rockland, Maine - Children, teens, and adults are invited to participate in the Rockland Public Library’s Summer Reading Program which starts on June 20th. This year’s theme is heroes. These include super heroes, historical heroes, and everyday people doing extraordinary acts.

To kickoff the program, local author Eva Murray will be reading her new children’s book, Island Birthday which, “introduces readers to some of the joys, and some of the exasperation, of remote island life”.

Children’s events will include yoga classes, science experiments, a series of classes teaching how to play a ukulele, and much more! Children will earn raffle tickets as they read over the summer. At the end of summer reading there will be a drawing where the children will have a chance to win one of six bicycles which were donated through the Masonic Bikes for Books program.

Adults and teens are also encouraged to participate. Writing a review for a book you’ve finished will enter you into a drawing for gifts and gift cards donated from local Rockland businesses. Programs are open to all, but to be entered in a raffle you must be a Rockland Public Library card holder. You can sign up now by visiting the library’s website at http://rocklandlibrary.org. Also check the library’s website for summer programs for adults and teens.
