National Slam Poets to Read at the Harlow Gallery on June 19‏

Hallowell, Maine - Slam poets Robin Merrill and Nate Amadon will perform Friday, June 19 at 7pm for the Harlow Gallery’s monthly Bookey Poetry Reading series.  Expect an energy-charged evening of poetry from these dynamic, national slam poetry competitors. This is not an evening for the faint of heart...!  Join us for a fun evening of poetry you’ll not soon forget. The Harlow Gallery is located at 160 Water Street in downtown Hallowell.  Refreshments are served and a $3 donation is appreciated at the door.


Robin Merrill is a writer/editor/poet from Madison. She is the author of several books, including two poetry collections (Moon Pie Press) and five children’s books (Scholastic Book Fairs). Her individual poems, short stories, and essays have appeared in hundreds of journals, including Stolen Island Review, The Café Review, and Spoon River Poetry Review. Three of her poems have been featured on The Writer’s Almanac with Garrison Keillor.  She is a 2013 recipient of an Emerging Artist Award from the St. Botolph Club Foundation of Boston. She represented Maine at the 2013 National Poetry Slam, the 2014 Individual World Poetry Slam and will represent Maine at the 2015 National Poetry Slam in California this October. Nathan Amadon is co-founder and co-executive director of Port Veritas. The Portland based nonprofit is now in its eighth year and this summer will send its 7th team of poets to the National Poetry Slam. Nate has represented Port Veritas and Portland Maine at 5 National Poetry Slam Inc. events, coached and co-coached six Port Veritas Teams. He has taught dozens of performance and writing workshops at schools across mid-coast and southern Maine and has been acting, writing and performing in Maine for the past 15 years.


The Harlow Gallery’s ongoing poetry reading series was recently renamed in honor of Ted and Ruth Bookey who recently retired from twenty years of organizing readings at the gallery.  The Harlow Gallery is the perfect setting to experience the spoken word at its very best!
