Rockland, Maine - Selections from “FANTASTIC JOURNEYS: The Children's Film Festival of Seattle 2015” will be screened at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main Street, in two parts: “Animated Shorts,” on Saturday, June 13 at 3pm; and “Live Action Shorts,” on Saturday, June 20 at 3pm. The award-winning films have been produced by filmmakers around the world, including Russia, Norway, Japan, France, and the Czech Republic. Admission is free.
“Animated Shorts,” on June 13, is a dazzling selection of high-energy, high-imagination films. Viewers will join a space-alien potato on his zany adventures, witness the creation of the alphabet, sing along with a brave little octopus, and grow up along with a rebellious daughter made of frosting, in this vibrant celebration of creativity. These films are appropriate for all ages; one film has brief subtitles. Total running time is 65 minutes.
“Live Action Shorts,” on June 20, showcases children that aren’t afraid to strike out on their own, in journeys small and grand. These girls and boys find their own ways through woods and run-down cities, bustling markets and the canals of Venice. Viewers will journey along with them and feel a spark of inspiration as they see the world anew. These films are appropriate for 7 years and older. Three films have subtitles. Total running time is 62 minutes.
