'Dogs with six 2-out runs, Cuevas fans 10 in 6-3 win over Mets

Binghamton, New York - Portland righty William Cuevas (4-1) tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts and the Sea Dogs scored all six runs with two outs, defeating the Binghamton Mets 6-3 on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Portland is now 4-2 on their 7-game roadtrip, which ends Thursday night.

The Sea Dogs received 11 of 12 hits from the top 5 hitters in the lineup - each had a multi-hit game. Portland jumped on the board first for the sixth straight game, scoring two off losing pitcher Rainy Lara (2-1) in the second. Mike Miller nailed a two-run single to left field.

In the fifth, Keury De La Cruz (3-for-3) blasted a two-run homer to right field, putting the 'Dogs in front 4-1. De La Cruz leads the team with 3 homers and reached base four times.

Portland would add two runs in the seventh inning on a run-scoring double by Oscar Tejeda, who would scored on a wild pitch.

Cuevas earned his third straight win, retiring the first 6 batters. He allowed a run in the third inning on a two-out single by Brandon Nimmo. In the seventh, the B-Mets scored two runs, but Jonathan Aro retired Nimmo, the tying run, to end the inning.  Aro retired seven of the final eight batters faced to earn his first Double-A save.

The top 5 of Miller, Carlos Asuaje, Jantzen Witte, Tejeda and De La Cruz went a combined 11-for-22 (.500). Jonathan Roof went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
