Rockport, Maine - The CHRHS Visual and Performing Arts Dept. is happy to announce Victoria Arau as the January Student of the Month.  A multi-faceted musician, Tori, has been involved in every musical venue at CHRHS.

Tori is an outstanding ensemble member who has been a leader in Chorale, Women’s Choir, Chamber Singers, Concert Band, Pep Band and Jazz Ensemble.  Her role in the Jazz Ensemble is integral to the success of the group, as she leads the rhythm section from the piano.  In addition to her piano studies, Tori plays the French Horn in Concert Band and Pep Band and has been accepted to perform in the 2015 District III Honors Band.   In choral ensembles, Tori is a strong Alto who can easily switch to Tenor as needed.  She often leads sectionals and is adept at running a music rehearsal.

Tori has been an active participant in the many extra curricular musical activities offered at CHRHS.
She has been accepted into the MMEA District III Festival each year, representing the school in both choirs and bands.  She has been accepted into the 2013, 2014, and 2015 MMEA All State Choir; and this year she will be attending the NAfME All Eastern Festival, performing with the Mixed Chorus in an April concert.  In addition to honor music festivals, Tori often performs in CHRHS talent shows and cabarets – performing original works and accompanying peers.

This past fall, Tori entertained audiences in her lead role of the Stepmother in the CHRHS production of Cinderella.  She has participated in all of the musicals, and balances her love of music and theater with an array of demanding academic classes including AP courses, independent studies, and exchange trips.

There are two loves in Tori’s life: Science and Music.  Although already accepted into a few colleges, she has yet to make the final decision.  But she knows that music will be an integral part of her college career:  “I'm looking forward to participating in a cappella and playing French horn (hopefully) in orchestra or another equivalent.”  Her advice to younger students who are interested in the arts:  “choose the art form you love most and do it passionately; music and other art forms help shape a person emotionally and mentally and I wouldn't be the person I am today without my interaction with music.”

Congratulations to Victoria Arau.
