Coming Up: Dramatic Reading: A Child’s Christmas in Wales & Simple Gifts Craft Night at Rockland Library

Rockland, Maine - Dylan Thomas' classic A Child's Christmas in Wales will be performed in the Rockland Public Library Community Room on Sunday, December 21 at 3:00 PM by Thomaston residents Erika Pfander and Peter Jenks and local area musicians. Erika Pfander was the founder of the Chamber Theatre of Maine in Thomaston and studied theater in New York. Peter Jenks is the minister at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist in Thomaston. This is the 21st year of this special performance.

The performance is free and open to the public.

Why not make friends and family unique handmade gifts this holiday season? Come to the Rockland Public Library Community Room on Tuesday, December 16 at 6:00 PM for a wonderful evening making several simple gifts. There will be four tables-- each with different crafts to create.


Mary Jane Martin will show people how to make easy and elegant beaded spiral trees.  With Carney Doucette, crafters can make three dimensional paper snowflake ornaments.   Patty King will help participants make items from repurposed books and magazines, including magnets and ornaments. Peter Proeller will advise crafters in making snowflake cards, which can also serve as ornaments.

Just bring your fingers and a willingness to learn; the event is free with supplies and guidance will be provided. This program is for adults and teenagers.
