December 27th and 28th
Rockland, Maine - The Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., will present two special 35mm screenings of the 1973 British film DON’T LOOK NOW on December 27 at 8pm and December 28 at 3pm.
Adapted from the short story by Daphne du Maurier. Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland star as a married couple who travel to Venice following the recent accidental death of their daughter, after the husband accepts a commission to restore a church. They encounter two sisters, one of whom claims to be clairvoyant and informs them that their daughter is trying to contact them and warn them of danger. The husband at first dismisses their claims, but starts to experience mysterious sightings himself.
DON’T LOOK NOW is renowned for it’s convincing depiction of grief, its innovative editing style, and its use of recurring motifs and themes. Originally causing controversy on its initial release due to an explicit and—for the time—very graphic sex scene between Christie and Sutherland, its reputation has grown considerably in the years since, and it is now acknowledged as a modern classic and an influential work in horror and British film.
This film is rated R. Tickets are $8.50/Adults;$7.50/seniors and matinees. For more information about all upcoming films, live concerts, HD broadcasts, and events at the Strand, visit www.rocklandstrand.com. Tel: (207) 594-0070 EX 3 Email: info@rocklandstrand.com.
