State library staff will be available every Tuesday afternoon throughout the month of January for drop-in visits from people needing technical support related to set-up or use of e-readers and tablets.
Three classes will also be held in January to show patrons how to use their new devices to download free e-book and audiobook content online. Each session is tailored to address one of the three major operating platforms used by tablet and e-reader devices. The class schedule is as follows:
iPad / iOS session: January 6 from 2:00-4:00 PM
Kindle session: January 13 from 2:00-4:00 PM
Android / Nook session: January 20 from 2:00-4:00 PM
Each class is free and open to the public, but preregistration is required due to limited space. Save your seat by calling 207-287-5600.
"E-readers and tablets are a great way to access library content without ever having to leave your home," said State Librarian, Linda Lord. "Over 200 Maine Libraries have access to the Maine InfoNet Download Library of e-books and audiobooks, and cardholders from those participating libraries can use e-readers and tablet devices to access that collection from home at no charge."
