Lewiston, Maine - Preschool teachers, childcare providers, librarians and representatives from other organizations serving children are invited to a free training in Lewiston focused on techniques to prepare kids 0-5 for school.
Shannon Schinagl, Early Literacy Consultant at the Maine State Library, will discuss brain development and outline six early literacy skills as they apply to children ranging from infants to preschool in age.
The event will be held from 10:00 AM to noon on Wednesday, January 7 at the Lewiston Public Library. Although there is no cost to attend the class, registration is required. Participants not representing a library should enter the name of their organization in the "library name" field in the registration form.
Attendees will receive training certificates that may be applicable for continuing education credits and contact hours for professional development purposes.
