History of the Lightships

Rockland, Maine - Captain Robert Dinsmore to present “History of the Lightships”, part of the Maine Lighthouse Museum’s Fall 2014 Lecture Series.  The lecture will begin at 6:00 PM on October 22nd, 2014 at the museum, located at One Park Drive in Rockland.

Admission is just $5.00 per person

Free Parking at the Trade Winds Motor Inn across the street.

Captain Robert Dinsmore, USCG Ret. will cover in descriptive detail the mundane and not so mundane day to day experiences of the crew on these isolated  stations, their daily duties and boredom, living at sea for lengthy periods of time confined to the length and beam of their ship.

The Maine Lighthouse Museum is home to the largest collection of lighthouse and U.S. Coast Guard artifacts in the nation and was founded by the late CWO4 Ken Black, lovingly known in the lighthouse community as “Mr. Lighthouse”.
