Rockland, Maine - SteelPro, Inc., a Rockland based business since 1978 has been awarded the Safety and Health Achievement Program (SHARP) award from the Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). SHARP is OSHA’s highest honor for small work sites. Less than 1600 worksites in the country currently share the honor of SHARP recognition. “SteelPro is proud of our safety record and this award is testament to our dedicated workforce, who are also proud owners of our company,” said SteelPro President Steve Ladd. “ We are proud members of the Rockland business community and look forward to our continued role in the community.”
SteelPro manufactures ASME code pressure vessels, biopharmaceutical equipment, vacuum chambers, storage tanks and other custom-designed equipment. Established in 1978 by Chris Beebe and Fred Carey, the company successfully converted to an employee owned company this year.
“SteelPro is one example of the presence and importance of the manufacturing sector in Rockland,” says the City’s Community Development Director John Holden. Rockland is well-known for our cultural, restaurant, and art scene, but the story about the City’s manufacturing base is not well known, according to Holden. We are working to make more people, citizens, and businesses around the State, New England, and Eastern Seaboard more aware of the City’s manufacturing and service economy. “Success stories like SteelPro make that job easier,” Holden said.
The award will be presented to SteelPro by Governor Paul LePage who will take the opportunity to
congratulate the employees of Steel-Pro on this important accomplishment. The presentation of the
award will be conducted by Mr. Steve Greeley, Safety Works! And Maine Department of Labor
