Camden Public Library Events November 6 through November 20

Thursday, November 6

Camden Library Coffeehouse features John Roberts and Debra Cowan, 7:00 pm. Roberts and Cowan are at the heart of traditional music in New England; they share an enthusiasm and passion for old songs and ballads, as well as a ripping good yarn now and then. Admission is only $8/$7 for students and seniors, for what promises to be a wonderful evening.


Sunday, November 9

Classical Music discussion at the Camden Public Library, 2:00 pm -- Chester Blake will discuss the library’s new Blake Collection of Classical Music and Opera, collected over the last 50 years. Blake will also select a personal “Desert Island Baker’s Dozen” of notable recordings from the collection to present at the talk.


Monday, November 10

Consultant pharmacist Tanya Kibler will speak on “Bio-identical Hormone Therapy” at noon at the Camden Public Library at the monthly Wellness Brown Bag Lunch, co-hosted by the library and Destination Wellness Midcoast Maine. Come learn how your body’s own natural hormones can keep you healthy and youthful.


Thursday, November 13

Anthony Antolini will speak on “The Russian Orthodox Church Today” at 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library as part of the Camden Conference Community Events series. The Russian Orthodox Church today represents a far more powerful force in Russian society than it has in over a century.


Saturday, November 15

Indoor Book Sale to benefit the Camden Public Library, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm at the library, featuring hundreds of hardcover fiction books and paperbacks, cookbooks galore, and of course a heavy dose of marine books, history books, self-help books, and current topics.

Saturday, November 15

Maine children’s author Kate Egan and magician Mike Lane will present a special free show, reading, and book signing, 1:00 pm in the Reading Room of the Camden Public Library, co-hosted by the Owl & Turtle Bookstore. There will be books available for sale and signing. Join us in celebrating the magic of books and enjoy the magic show! All ages welcome.



Sunday, November 16

Indoor Book Sale continues at the Camden Public Library, 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.


Tuesday, November 18

Regular meeting of the Camden Philosophical Society Reading Group, 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. This month’s topic is on the relationship between science and philosophy.

Seth Sherwood of TD Bank will give a financial literacy presentation on “Applying for Financing” for business owners and those who are interested in starting a business, 6:30 pm at the Camden Public Library. The presentation will be in the second floor meeting room and is free.

Hanlon Kelly presents “What Is Restorative Justice?” at 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast promotes fundamental change in the justice system and schools, seeking renewal and safety for the community, support and healing for victims, and accountability and reintegration of the offender.


Thursday, November 20

The Midcoast Audubon Society presents Nick Record on “40 Years of Change in the Gulf of Maine Ecosystem,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Record, a Maine native working at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, defines himself as a “computational ocean ecologist.”
