Art Exhibit: Artfully Orchestrated: Illustrations on Vintage Sheet Music

Blue Hill, Maine - During the month of November, the Blue Hill Public Library will be hosting an exhibit by Ellsworth artist Jessica Harris, Artfully Orchestrated: Illustrations on Vintage Sheet Music. The exhibit consists of original ink and watercolor illustrations of animals, birds, plants, and garden fairies on vintage music sheets. According to Jessica, her goal is that the “lyrics and artwork work in unison, creating a collective dynamic between art and music.”

Jessica Harris, a self-taught Maine artist residing in Ellsworth, has been drawing, painting, and creating jewelry and accessories since she was a small child growing up in nearby Mariaville, often using found objects. Her influences include nature, food, travels, the imaginary, and the people she meets.  Revealed throughout her creations are her fine aesthetic sense and eye for color and detail.

Jessica has been a featured artist in both Tarantine Magazine (2012) and The University of Maine’s Stolen Island Journal (2013). In 2007, she illustrated the Trenton Historical Society’s cookbook, Cooking with Character and most recently illustrated for Memoirs of a Mad Inn Keeper; The Muffin Recipes Revealed (2014). She has attended Haystack School of Crafts on Deer Isle, Maine (2012 and 2014), and the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore (2013).

The exhibit will be available for viewing during library hours starting Monday November 3rd. For more information, call the library at 374-5515.
