Pirates Collect over 500 Nonperishable Food Items For Good Shepherd Food Bank

Food collected at Pirates’ December Home Games at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee
Lewiston, Maine - The Portland Pirates announced today that they collected over 500 nonperishable and canned food items for Good Shepherd Food Bank during their December food drive. All of the items will be dropped off at Good Shepherd at a later date.

Pirates fans who donated during the food drive received two tickets to the Pirates home game against the Worcester Sharks on January 21st, 201, which were donated by the Pirates.

“We’re thrilled with the generosity of Pirates fans in donating to Good Shepherd Food Bank during the holiday season,” said Pirates COO Alex Romanoff. “Good Shepherd’s role in the community is vital and we’re looking forward to supporting them throughout the rest of the season.”

“The Food Bank is excited to once again partner with the Portland Pirates for food drives during the winter months,” said Kristen Miale, president of Good Shepherd Food Bank. “The food donated by Pirates fans throughout the season goes to help Maine families who are struggling to put enough food on the table and it makes a big difference in our community.”

The Pirates will be hosting 3 Good Shepherd Nights doing the 2014 portion of the season on January 24th (vs. Bridgeport), February 23rd (vs. St. John’s) and March 7th (vs. Albany). Good Shepherd will be collecting nonperishable food donations at the three games.

Tickets are available for all three games by calling the Androscoggin Bank Colisee Box at 783-2009 ext. 525 or online at thecolisee.com.
