Portland, Maine - Join Portland Public Library and the Women Voters of Maine for this two part workshop. Effective meetings require advance planning, a clear agenda, sound facilitation, transparent process, and effective decision-making, The morning workshop, 9:30-11:30am, will provide tools for organizing and facilitating meetings. The afternoon workshop, 12:30-2:30pm will shift the focus to organizing and planning public candidate or issue forums. Both sessions will focus on the role of a neutral facilitator. These fast-paced sessions are designed for the beginner, the curious, and those with some experience.
The trainer, Anne Schink, is a consultant in volunteer management, training, and facilitation offering services to nonprofit organizations, public entities, and faith-based organizations. From 1995 to 2009 Anne was the Program/Training/Disability Officer at the Maine Commission for Community Service. In 2007 Anne received the CVA designation from the Council on Certification in Volunteer Administration. Anne currently serves on the National Board of the League of Women Voters.
This program is co-sponsored by “Choose Civility” an initative of the Portland Public Library aimed at increasing community conversations and public engagement and the League of Women Voters of Maine, nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major political policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
