Pirates Face Bruins for 4th and Final Time in December

Pirates (10-10-1-4, 22 points) vs. Bruins (14-9-1-4, 33 Points), 7:00 PM
Lewiston, Maine - The Pirates will look to get back to their winning ways as they face off against the Providence Bruins for the 4th and final time for the month of December. Puck drop is 7:00 pm from the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

The Pirates dropped a 6-2 decision to the Manchester Monarchs last night to fall behind 3-1 in the VIP Cup Series, presented by VIP Parts & Service. Jordan Martinook and Keven Veilleux had the goals for the Pirates, while both Mark Visentin and Louis Domingue saw action in net. Manchester becomes the first team to win in regulation during the VIP Cup series this season.

The Bruins dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to the Springfield Falcons last night after leading the game 2-0. Justin Florek and Kevan Miller scored in regulation for the Bruins, but Springfield was able to strike back with two unanswered goals and the shootout winner in a sudden death 6th round. Malcolm Subban made 24 saves on 26 shots in 65 minutes of play for Providence.

Providence hosted the Pirates in their last game on Friday the 13th, the third straight game between the Pirates and Bruins. Providence won in a shootout 4-3 after tying the game with 30 seconds left in regulation on a Alexander Fallstrom goal. Louis Domingue suffered his first AHL defeat, despite stopping 25 shots on the night and allowing only one goal in the shootout. Chris Brown, Daine Todd, and Keven Veilleux had the regulation goals for the Pirates.

KeyBank Key to the Game

Down in Front: The Pirates need to manufacture goals using a physical presence in front of the net. By crashing the net and putting pressure on Providence’s goaltending, the Pirates will create chances and will hopefully convert on their scoring opportunities.

Tonight is Ugly Sweater Night, presented by Tim Hortons. Wear a holiday sweater to a participating Tim Hortons in central or southern Maine and get 2 free tickets to the game – if you can’t make it there, wear your sweater to get $8 tickets at the Box Office!
