Bangor Hydro Electric Company and Maine Public Service crews are out in force doing their best to restore service to customers without power in the wake of a winter storm blanketing Maine today. A majority of the system impact has been felt in Hancock and Washington counties where icing continues to be the problem; ice weighing down the lines and nearby branches is the cause. Lubec, Addison, Steuben, Cherryfield, Otis, Blue Hill and Brookline are among communities without service. Crews have been dispatched to these areas and are working to restore service safely and quickly; however, poor travel conditions as well as any additional outages could delay restoration times.
As always, we remind the public to stay clear of downed lines or trees in contact with a downed line. Customers should also fully charge cell phones so they’re ready in case of emergency and those using alternate heating sources should always be sure to follow manufacturer safety precautions.
Customers may report outages or ask questions by calling our Customer Service Centers at 1-800-440-1111 (Central and Downeast Maine) and 877-655-4448 (Northern Maine). Information is also available on Bangor Hydro’s live outage and restoration map at www.bangorhydro.com. You can also follow them on Twitter and on our mobile site, www.bhe.com/m.
Stay tuned for more storm updates...
